Foxy Brown Drops Lil' Kim Dis Track

After a few false starts, Foxy Brown finally fired away at Lil' Kim with a dis track, "Massacre," targeting her fellow Brooklyn MC. The track premiered on Thursday night on DJ Kay Slay's Hot 97 radio show. On it, Brown pulled from Jay-Z's catalog, spitting her bars of fury over his "So Ghetto," to poke at the former Biggie protégé.

"First the bitch wanna hate on Foxy," she spits. "Ten years later, now she hating on Minaj, whoa."

The line referred to Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj's war of words last year, stemming from interviews with Angie Martinez in which the female rappers lobbed barbs at one another. The two swapped dis songs as well, Kim with "Black Friday" and Nicki with "Roman's Revenge."

On Brown's "Massacre," she may not mention Kim by name at first, but she identifies her former ally-turned-rival clearly enough.

"On my Bernie Madoff sh--, f--- the whole IRS," Foxy snapped, a direct jab at Kim and her new "collective."

Foxy goes for the jugular toward the end, sniping at Kim and her stalled career.

"Brooklyn, baby, y'all taking it home," she raps. "With just my Timbs on and my microphone/ Glass house, throwing them stones/ Bear witness to the rise and fall of Miss Kimberly Jones."

During the summer, Foxy told MTV News that she supported upstart female MC Minaj. The endorsement came during her spat with Kim.

"I think she's doing an incredible job of branding herself," Foxy said, disputing rumors at the time that there was tension between the two. "When you're a boss bitch, you give it up. Send her a Chanel bag or something," she laughed. "If you're winning, you're winning. That's just how I see it."

The Firm are one of one. We haven't seen a collective quite like them. Back in the '90s, Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown and even Nature were able to drop endless classic material on mixtapes, be a part of the historic Puff Daddy-headlined No Way Out Tour and drop one platinum group album on Dr. Dre's Aftermath imprint.

For the past few years we've seen live hints at a reunion of the Firm. The core four, Nas, Foxy Brown, AZ and Cormega have performed together at shows in various permutations, but never all four at one time. Foxy Brown says everyone has talked about a real reunion, but differences between the Queens half of the group have to be ironed out first.

"We all sat down and conversed," she told MTV News recently. "We all know if it's not the main four, the only four, it can't be. Nas, myself, AZ and Cormega, that is the Firm. There is no other artist that can substitute for Nas, AZ, Cormega and myself. If all four of us can't do it, it can't be done."

Brown says she's still on great terms with the others.

"AZ and myself are inseparable throughout the years. He can walk in my house and go inside the refrigerator, get whatever he wants," she said. "Cormega is like my brother. You know Nas, Nas has gone his way. He got married and has gone through his own stuff. I went to prison, lost my hearing. We all just had our lives take different turns. We realized that everywhere we go, people are like, 'The Firm, the Firm.' A was like, 'We gotta do this.' That's when the rumors started."

During a recent concert in New York, Brown brought out AZ and Cormega. She says that before they all can fully reunite, Nas and Mega have to work things out.

"He and Cormega — everybody knows the legendary beef between them," she assessed. "So, [the challenge is] getting them in the same room together. Nas had a concert at Lincoln Center two Christmases ago. AZ wasn't there, but me and Cormega came out. So they can get in the same room together. And they can kind of alleviate the bullsh-- and say, 'Let's get this money now.'

We're older, let's get this money. "We started as babies," she added. "We were babies, like '96, '97, selling millions of records together. We have history together. I'm the one that's close to each one of them. I'm the link that can bring each one of them together. So it's Nas getting in the same room with Mega. And then we're good. His personal feelings with Mega, they have to work that out. Once they do that ... They have a history that AZ and I can't relate to. There's something they have to work out. I know I can get them together."

Foxy Brown Testifies Before Grand Jury

'It feels so good to tell the truth,' Brooklyn MC says after giving testimony related to her July arrest.

Foxy Brown testified before a grand jury on Wednesday about charges stemming from her arrest last month in Brooklyn over an argument with a neighbor. Foxy has a history of feuding with the neighbor, Arlene Raymond, dating back to 2007.

According to the New York Daily News, Foxy was interviewed for three hours about the incident.

In July, the Brooklyn femcee was arrested after a dispute with Raymond. The rapper reportedly had to be restrained from the woman; a police report also suggested Foxy flashed the neighbor with her backside. No decision was made after Wednesday's testimony, but Brown could be slapped with a felony charge for violating a restraining order Raymond obtained after her initial spat with Foxy three years ago.

Foxy spoke to MTV News after her first court appearance late last month and firmly denied the allegations.

"I was on my way to rehearsal with my band and I was leaving my mom's house in Park Slope, [Brooklyn], where I always go; that's the home that I was born in," she said. "And the police came and they saw the situation and there wasn't any conflict or discord — they were really baffled. But a supervisor came and saw the [potential for] publicity. If my name was Keisha Brown and not Foxy Brown, I would have been let go."

After she exited the Brooklyn court house Wednesday, Foxy told members of the media gathered outside that she hopes the actual account of the incident will be heard.

"It feels so good to tell the truth," she said. "This thing has been such a nightmare."

Foxy Brown Involved In Scuffle With Manager, Others

Witnesses confirm that MC was involved in fracas with manager and others in New York apartment building.

Just one week after Foxy Brown's arrest for allegedly violating a protective order during a dustup with her neighbor, the MC was involved in a big scuffle Thursday in a New York apartment-building lobby.

Witnesses confirmed to MTV News that Foxy (real name: Inga Marchand) was involved in a scuffle between a number of individuals, including her manager.

New York's Daily News reported that the incident occurred after Brown was six hours late for an interview in which she was to discuss last week's arrest. The rapper reportedly became combative after building staffers asked her to be quiet, and then became combative with her manager and others. She reportedly fled the scene before police arrived. The paper's report was unconfirmed at press time.

A spokesperson for the Midtown South precinct told MTV the police have no information regarding the incident; Foxy's manager had no comment.

Earlier this week, Foxy sat down with MTV News and gave her side of last week's incident with her neighbor. Foxy Brown, Tony Yayo Speak About Sean Bell Settlement

Brown, a friend of Bell's fiancée, says she 'handled everything so gracefully.'

Four years after a shooting left an unarmed Sean Bell dead (on the eve of his wedding) and two of his friends wounded following a tragic incident with New York City police, the city has agreed to pay $7 million dollars to settle a federal lawsuit filed by Bell's family and his friends.

According to The New York Times, in the early hours of November 25, 2006, five New York City police officers fired 50 shots into the car Bell — who was to be married that day — was driving outside a club in Queens, New York. The car reportedly struck a detective in the leg and hit a police van before the officers began firing. None of the three men in the car — Bell and his friends Joseph Guzman and Trent Benefield — were armed, although the officers apparently believed at least one was.

In what's seen as the closing chapter in one of the most controversial police shootings in New York City history — three officers were acquitted of manslaughter and reckless-endangerment charges in 2008, a ruling many activists and rappers spoke out against — the families of the victims are looking to move past the tragedy.

As part of the settlement, Bell's two young daughters (whom he had with his fiancée, Nicole Paultre Bell) will receive $3.25 million; Guzman (who was shot 17 times) and Trent Benefield will receive $3 million and $900,000 respectively, according to Times.

Earlier this week, Foxy Brown — a close friend of Bell's fiancée — said Paultre Bell is a strong woman who remained in high spirits throughout the four-year ordeal.

"She just handled everything so gracefully," Brown said. "She just did everything with grace and class."

G-Unit member Tony Yayo, whose G-Unity foundation gave proceeds from a recent event to Bell's family, said the settlement is long overdue.

"I think it's a beautiful thing, but rest in peace to Sean Bell," Yayo said. "I mean, you have times now when a police officer can shoot you in your back, handcuffed on the floor, in a train station in front of everybody and get two years," Yayo said, referring to the Oscar Grant shooting in Oakland, California, in which found a transit officer was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter last month. "So Sean Bell's people deserve that money, definitely, and blessings to them."

Foxy Brown insists there were no shots fired at Nicki Minaj. The Brooklyn veteran disputes claims she was dissing the Young Money MC during a recent show at Manhattan's B.B. King Blues Club & Grill. Brown says that, in fact, she thinks Minaj has been doing an exemplary job at navigating the music industry.

"What's funny, I actually applaud Nicki for it," said Foxy, who was accompanied by her manager earlier this week during a visit to the MTV News studio. "I think she's doing an incredible job of branding herself. When you're a boss bitch, you give it up. Send her a Chanel bag or something," she laughed. "If you're winning, you're wining. That's just how I see it."

When Foxy was asked whether she shared the same line of thinking as Lil' Kim, who believes that a rising female MC like Minaj should pay homage, Brown insisted, "I'm not caught up in that at all ... I'm not even in that category. I'm still one of the youngest female rappers in the game. [Other female rappers] may feel like that because they're older, but I myself am still young. I don't feel that. I applaud what she's doing.

As for Foxy's comments at her B.B. King's show over the weekend, Brown addressed her female rap counterparts mixing hip-hop and dancehall saying, "I'm the only rap bitch in the game that f--- with all hip-hop, all dancehall, and I'm the only bitch that can do that for real"

Brown told us that yes, she was referring to Nicki's Caribbean accent on the remix of Gyptian's "Hold You," but no, she wasn't throwing jabs.

" 'Cause everyone thought it was me on that dancehall record," Foxy explained. "It's something I created. That's something that had never been done before — hip-hop and dancehall together — until I did it. I didn't do it just to sell records. I didn't do it as a ploy or gimmick. My parents are from Trinidad. I'm Trinidadian. I'm West Indian. That is the music I grew up on. To incorporate that with hip-hop was the biggest thing ever.

"My ex-fiancé is Spragga Benz; [he] had the most amazing dancehall hook and we went crazy on it. I think anybody that does that after, [people will be like, 'Is that Fox?'] Then the little ad-libs [Nicki does on the song], 'whoa, whoa,' that's my trademark. People will start to question that and say, 'Was that Foxy?' But what I said onstage is what is said. I back up and stand behind everything I say two million percent: I am the only Trini chick that can kick yard sh--."

Lindsay Lohan's jail sentence is already close to its conclusion, but the effects of her incarceration are still being felt. The recently-jailed actress received a show of support from a New York tanning salon on Tuesday, and Foxy Brown (herself a former inmate who spent a year at Rikers Island) also gave Lohan a shout-out when she visited the MTV News office on Tuesday.

"My heart goes out to Lindsay Lohan. I watched her being taken to jail and it brought back tears and memories. It wasn't all negative, I have to say that," Brown, who was arrested again last week, told MTV News. "People just automatically think that prison stereotypically is the worst place. I was unlawfully sent to prison for a year, but I kind of welcomed the serenity when I was sentenced and I knew I had to deal with this."

Like "Hills" star Stephanie Pratt, Brown used the time to better herself and even make some friends. "I said 'You know what? Let me make the best out of this time,' " Brown said. "I'm an avid reader, so I read a lot. And the inmates were amazing. I would sit down with them and we would play cards and converse. Talking to these different women from all walks of life was incredible. There were actually three females I met while in prison who I still write to and keep in contact with."

The rapper — whose new album Black Roses is scheduled to drop soon — didn't have any particular advice for Lohan, though she did think the whole situation was unfair.

"When Puff says 'Mo money, mo problems,' it's really true," she said. "It's such a blessing being a celebrity. There are a lot of perks to being a celebrity, but the downside of it? Oh, man. You're constantly targeted. We all need to be law-abiding citizens, but I think each case needs to be ruled by the law, as opposed to this is a celebrity who is doing this and needs to be taught a lesson."

Exclusive: Foxy Brown Discusses Her Legal Woes

According to Foxy Brown and her legal camp, the Brooklyn rapper is tired of conflicts with an inflexible neighbor. The former Def Jam lyricist is on the offensive when it comes to ongoing tension with a local resident, Arlene Raymond. The feuding between the two women has been so volatile in the last few years that Brown has been arrested twice, once in 2007, after she was accused of striking Raymond with a BlackBerry phone, and again last week.

Last Wednesday, authorities nabbed Foxy after she and Raymond (who has a protective order against the MC) were allegedly involved in another altercation, during which the BK rap star cursed and "mooned" Raymond, according to news reports.

Foxy spoke to MTV News on Tuesday (July 27) after her court appearance and explained there was never a shouting match between her and Raymond; Brown said she was speaking out in order to clear her name.

Brown denied the information that reportedly was included in the police filing, including the claim that the rapper exposed her buttocks to Raymond.

"I'm just appalled by that statement alone," Foxy said.

But the two do have history that stems from being longtime neighbors, Brown admitted. The rapper suggested that Raymond and her household have a penchant for being involved in arguments with other residents of the neighborhood. The two, however, will have a chance to air their grievances in court when they are both slated to appear before a grand jury.

Brown's lawyer, Salvatore E. Strazzullo, who said his client is the one who should have a protective order granted against Raymond, said Foxy will be vigilant in defending her name and reputation in the community.

"I think Foxy could explain it herself, but in a legal way, the reason she went to court today is that she's not gonna hide from the truth and hide from accusations from this nonsensical alleged victim," Strazzullo said.

Foxy Brown Arrested After Dispute With Neighbor

Neighbor has a restraining order against New York MC, who has been released on $50,000 bail.

Looks like Foxy Brown is back in trouble again. The Brooklyn rapper was taken into custody after 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday (July 21) for allegedly violating a protective order, according to TMZ.

The 31-year-old MC had another dustup with her neighbor, who has a restraining order against Brown, according to the New York Post. Neighbors reportedly were forced to step in and hold Brown (real name: Inga Marchand) back before any physical contact between the two occurred.

Brown has a history of legal run-ins. In 1997, she spat on two hotel employees in North Carolina when they informed her they didn't have an iron; she missed a court appearance and turned herself in after a warrant was issued. She was ordered to do 80 hours of community service.

Back in 2004, she attacked two manicurists after a dispute over a $20 bill that she refused to pay; she earned three years of probation and had to take anger-management classes.

She also was sentenced to one year in jail in 2007 for violating her probation from the altercation with the nail techs; she was given 76 days in solitary confinement after having a physical altercation with another prisoner.

The Post says Brown has been released on $50,000 bail in this latest incident. Her manager, Chaz Williams, denied the charges.
