Fantasia Barrino gave birth to a boy, Dallas Xavier Barrino, Tuesday in North Carolina. In a statement to People, the season-three "American Idol" winner said, "I feel so blessed that my son, Dallas Xavier, was born healthy, and is a wonderful new addition to our family. I thank all my fans for their well wishes and continued support." In an interview with Wendy Williams back in October, the singer revealed that she was expecting a son by the end of December. Fantasia, 27, has remained quiet about who the father of Dallas is, but she has been linked to on-again, off-again boyfriend Antwaun Cook since 2010. This is the second child for the singer, who has a 10-year-old daughter, Zion, from a previous relationship. In August, Fantasia announced she was pregnant during a show in Florida. "You are the first persons that I share this news with. And I share this with you because I can relate to you," she told the Jacksonville crowd. "And for a while I walked around figuring out what will they say and what will they think about me. But now I tell you, I don't live my life for folk. This child that I carry, God has given me this child. And I don't have to hide it from none of y'all." Life for Barrino has been on the mend since the summer of 2010, when she made headlines for suffering a drug overdose after ingesting a combination of aspirin and a sleep aid. Rumors abounded that the singer's alleged relationship with Cook, who was married at the time, was a factor in her suicide attempt. She quickly recovered, however, to promote her album Bittersweet. In her 2010 "Behind the Music" special, Barrino addressed her ups and downs, concluding, "I know that I am beautiful and special. I am who I am — and that's what makes me Fantasia." Fantasia has certainly experienced highs and lows, both professionally and personally, since her "American Idol" win back in 2004. And over the weekend, the singer announced her latest personal high: She's pregnant. The "Idol" winner made the announcement during a concert in Jacksonville, Florida. She told the crowd, "You are the first persons that I share this news with. And I share this with you because I can relate to you." During her impromptu announcement at the show on Sunday, which took place at Riverview Apartments, she continued, "And for a while I walked around figuring out what will they say and what will they think about me. But now I tell you I don't live my life for folk. This child that I carry, God has given me this child. And I don't have to hide it from none of y'all." Fantasia did not say who the father of her child is, but she has been linked to on-again, off-again boyfriend Antwaun Cook. She has a 9-year-old daughter, Zion Quari Barrino, from a previous relationship. Last summer, Barrino made headlines when she suffered an overdose after ingesting a combination of aspirin and a sleep aid. After personal struggles earlier this year that included a suicide attempt last month, former "American Idol" champ Fantasia is getting her career all the way back on track with her first headlining tour. The Grammy-nominated singer will kick off her 30-city Back to Me tour on November 4 with a date in Richmond, Virginia, and stay on the road through January 1. Joining her on the outing will be singers Eric Benet and Kandi. Fans who subscribe to Fantasia's newsletter at FantasiaOfficial.com can get information on concert pre-sales for selected dates, which begin on September 30. Fantasia's third album, Back to Me, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart last month, and in addition to landing the highest debut of her career, it also gave the singer her first #1 album on the Billboard R&B chart thanks to the first single, "Bittersweet." While her new single, "I'm Doin' Me," climbs on radio, Fantasia is also in the public eye thanks to the recently launched second season of her VH1 reality series, "Fantasia for Real." "I'm so excited about this tour and having the chance to connect with my fans, the people that love me and have been supporting me through everything," Fantasia said in a statement announcing the tour. "This tour is going to be a real special, intimate experience for them and for me." The single mom discussed the personal problems that led to her suicide attempt on VH1's "Behind the Music," telling the show, "I didn't have any fight in me ... I didn't care about anything. In the weeks surrounding her August suicide attempt, Fantasia Barrino has arguably went through the toughest time of her young life. On the second-season premiere of VH1's "Fantasia for Real," however, the former American Idol's fighting spirit is on full display as she preps for the release of her third album, Back to Me.

The episode kicks off with Fantasia celebrating her newly empty house in Charlotte, North Carolina, after her mother and brothers moved out. She tricked out the mansion with a new game room and a brightly colored playroom for her daughter, Zion. While the songstress appeared to revel in her drama-free domesticity, she did have an album to promote, so she jetted off to New York City to work some breezy looks in a photo shoot. The pressure was on for 'Tasia's next album to be a smash. Manager Brian Dickens mentioned in the episode that her upcoming effort could determine whether she's just a recording artist or an "icon." The singer said the feedback she'd been getting so far was positive and she just wanted "the whole world to feel like that." So, in order to become an international big deal, Barrino had to head across the pond to connect with her London fanbase. But first, she got a visit from family. When Aunt Bunny came to town, 'Tasia complimented her weight loss and then dragged her to a workout sure to get the blood pumping: a pole-dancing class. The two worked exercises like the "loopty loop" and "spread eagle," moves that prompted Bunny to throw a side-eye and declare, "You too comfortable on the pole!" Faced with the slew of tabloid headlines about the singer's supposed dalliances with a married man, Bunny and Fantasia's mother grilled the singer about her love life. Fantasia denied rumors that she broke up her "friend's" union, insisting, "I come from a home that was wrecked," and maintaining that she would never wreak the same havoc on another family. The confrontation eventually forced her to tears. She later called her love live "touchy" and added, "There's some things going on, but it's not what you think, and I'm just not ready to talk about it." Bunny also checked up on Fantasia's brother Teeny in his spankin'-new crib, which was largely free of furniture but big on feng shui. He seemed all right, judging by the spacious abode, but he did admit to his auntie that even though he identifies himself as a music engineer, "technically, I still don't have a job." The episode wraps up with Fantasia finally hitting the stage in London, after stressing over the news that ticket sales were sluggish. But when the soul singer did arrive onstage, she was greeted with a packed house of amped concertgoers who sang every word to her new track "Even Angels." It's been one month since Fantasia's suicide attempt and it seems the pain of that experience is still fresh. The singer has been steadily promoting her new album, Back to Me, and when she visited "The Wendy Williams Show" on Friday (September 10) she opened up about her recent drug overdose and said many members of her professional entourage had left her side. "At the time, I wasn't really thinking about anybody," Fantasia told host Wendy Williams when asked whether she had considered daughter Zion. "Nobody knows how heavy it gets. You see the glitz and the glamour and you think, 'They got it, they got it all,' but a lot of times when you come into this industry you have people that say that they are there for you, but a lot of times they are just there to get what they can get or because money is involved," she said, starting to cry. The single mom revealed that many of her supposed confidants were nowhere to be found during her time of need. "I am 26 years old, and so many times, I've looked around and noticed that everybody that started with me is now gone and nobody was there to help me clean it up. So I had to do it all by myself." Fantasia's overdose occurred shortly after a lawsuit was filed by the wife of Antwaun Cook against the songstress charging that she had been in an adulterous relationship with Cook. Cook's lawyer, Nicole Sodoma said the singer was not responsible for breaking up the marriage. "He knew Fantasia Barrino but the failure of his marriage can in no way be blamed on anyone except the two people that were a part of the union — Paula and Antwaun," Sodoma said in a statement. The singer is focused now on moving past her dark period by speaking openly about her story in an effort to connect with her fans. Katy Perry's Teenage Dream Ends Eminem's Chart Run

All good things must come to an end and it looks like Katy Perry might be the one to stop Eminem's record-setting run at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart. As expected, Perry's Teenage Dream will block Eminem from lodging his eighth week at #1 on next week's Billboard chart by selling 192,000 copies of her second official major label album, or more than four times as many as her first disc, One of the Boys, sold (47,000) in its first week two years ago. According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, Perry isn't the only one who bested Eminem. Former "American Idol" winner Fantasia bounces back from a dark personal period that included a recent suicide attempt by landing at #2 with Back to Me on sales of 117,000, which pushes Em's Recovery down to its lowest chart position to date, #3, on sales of 98,000.

There are some other newcomers in the top 10, though, including Usher, whose Versus mini-album comes in at #4 (46,000), followed by country rock act Little Big Town's The Reason Why (42,000), the Randy Rogers Band's Burning the Day (#8, 29,000) and hard rockers the Devil Wears Prada, whose Zombie EP sneaks in at #10 thanks to just under 25,000 units shifted. The rest of the top 10: Kem, Intimacy (#6, 30,000); Justin Bieber, My World 2.0 (#7, 29,000); and Ray LaMontagne and the Pariah Dogs, God Willin' & the Creek Don't Rise (#9, 28,000). After a nice run in the top 10 for three weeks, the Arcade Fire's Suburbs falls nine spots to #16 (21,000) as they pass the 250,000 mark, while Usher's five-month-old Raymond v. Raymond disc has a nice resurgence thanks to his new deluxe edition with seven new songs and a remix, surging up 12 spots to #19 as sales pick up by 57 percent to 20,000. Beloved indie folkie Sufjan Stevens has a strong showing at #27 with All Delighted People (15,000), as do college rock faves Ra Ra Riot, whose Orchard lands at #36 (10,000). Though his single "Cooler Than Me" has lit up the charts all summer, Mike Posner's major label debut, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, has slid steadily down the chart since its debut two weeks ago, falling another 26 spots to #72 as sales dip to less than 6,000. The news is the same on the iTunes singles and albums charts as Perry took over the pole position on both with the album and the title track single. Em hangs in at #2 on the album tally, followed by the Rogers Band, Fantasia, Mumford & Sons' Sigh No More, Usher's Versus, Stevens, Never Shout Never's Harmony, LaMontagne, and the Devil Wears Prada. Though iTunes does not divulge sales data, it was a good week for Perry, as her single led a group that was relatively unchanged from the week before, with Taio Cruz at #2 with "Dynamite," followed by Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are," Eminem's "Love the Way You Lie," Enrique Iglesias' fist-pumping anthem "I Like It," Usher's "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love," Nelly's "Just a Dream," B.o.B's "Magic," Ke$ha's "Take It Off" and newcomer Kid Cudi with the Kanye collabo "Erase Me." Perry should be able to retain her perch next week, as the new faces in the crowd include the latest from Disturbed, the Goo Goo Dolls, Fabolous, Papa Roach and Lyfe Jennings.

It's been a long, record-setting summer for Eminem's smash Recovery, but Slim Shady's chart dominance could be challenged next week by two strong women with something to prove.

Em's held the #1 spot on the album charts for seven of the nine weeks Recovery has been in stores, with its other two weeks spent at #2. But he could be pushed down to the #3 position next week thanks to the debuts of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream and Fantasia's Back to Me, according to a Billboard. Citing unnamed "industry prognosticators," the trade pub put Perry on track to sell between 170,000 and 200,000 copies of Teenage Dream by the end of this week's reporting period on Sunday (August 29). Fantasia, meanwhile, is on target for a #2 bow and sales in the 120,000-140,000 range. This week, Eminem had little major competition, and he was able to hold on to the #1 slot with 116,000 sales of Recovery. For Perry, the debut would easily best the chart arrival of her breakthrough 2008 effort One of the Boys, which debuted on the charts and peaked at #9 with 47,000 sales; it went on to sell more than one million copies in the U.S. and seven million worldwide. Perry is looking to both beat the sophomore slump and cement her status as one of the world's pop icons. A #2 debut would also be a high-water mark for Fantasia, who has struggled through a difficult period lately that included a suicide attempt and tabloid headlines regarding her relationship with a man in the midst of a divorce. If the former "American Idol" champ snags the #2 spot it would mark the best chart debut of her career, though her previous album, Fantasia, sold 133,000 copies when it reached #19 spot in 2006. While numbers were not available at press time, it's even possible that Slim Shady could get a bit of a run from Usher, whose new EP, Versus, also dropped this week.

'American Idol' alum opens up about suicide attempt, teenage rebelliousness.

When Fantasia Barrino told America that she had "been through some stuff" upon winning the "American Idol" crown in 2004, she was putting it mildly. That didn't even include her most recent struggles with a drug overdose and being accused of breaking up a marriage.

On VH1's latest episode of "Behind the Music," which premiered Tuesday night (August 24), viewers learned that, although the spunky "Idol" winner has suffered several lows recently, she is on her way to a full recovery and proud of herself for being who she is. The episode opened with a detailed account of Barrino's shocking overdose, in which she said she made attempted to end her life because she "didn't have any fight" in her. "At that moment I didn't care about anything. I just wanted out," she said, boldly admitting that the overdose wasn't at all an accident and that she was not happy when she woke up in the hospital and realized her suicide attempt "didn't work" — until her nurse, Melody, told her to get up and fulfill her destiny. From there, the episode delves deep into Fantasia's North Carolina roots — beginning with when she began singing (at age 5), then tracing her first love (ex-boyfriend Brandel Shouse, the father of her daughter, Zion), which would later turn into an abusive relationship. "He was somebody I was crazy about," Barrino said. "The first guy who showed me attention." Barrino recounted how in high school she started to crave attention in other ways, by wearing tight clothing, acting like she was already an adult, until her world was turned upside down after she was raped at her high school at age 14. "I didn't even cry my way home," she said of her feelings after the assault. "I was numb, very numb, confused, I just felt nasty. Disgusting." Although she didn't press charges, Barrino said she was unable to continue going to school because of the taunts and harassment from her classmates, so she dropped out and then "turned into a rebel," until her hard-partying and careless ways landed her pregnant at 17. Unable to support herself and her daughter, Barrino began singing professionally, taking any gigs that paid, until she saw an episode of "American Idol" and fought her way into an audition. The rest of Barrino's story is familiar to "Idol" fans: She was crowned the winner of season three, which she called "the best day of my life," signed to a record contract with Clive Davis and was the first new artist to have a single debut at #1. Barrino's post-"Idol" career path wasn't smooth sailing, however. The young singer once again found herself nearly bankrupt after dealing with corrupt managers and legal woes, but she received new hope after being cast in "A Color Purple" on Broadway. From there, the episode delved into the star's recent lows — a scare with throat tumors, which she had surgically removed — and her relationship with Antwaun Cook and the lawsuit from his ex-wife, Paula, which led to her suicide attempt last week. "I realize how people end up in the grave because of that one moment," she said of that dark day. "Feeling like they can't go on [because] it's too heavy, that's somewhere I never want to go again." Fortunately, the episode ended on a high note, with Barrino proudly receiving her GED and walking in a graduation ceremony with the 2010 class of her former high school, St. Andrews. Fantasia Says 'Heavy' Incidents Led To Her Overdose

While fans eagerly anticipate the premiere of Fantasia's "Behind the Music" episode on Tuesday night (August 24), where the singer will open up about her suicide attempt earlier this summer, she also talked about her overdose on the Gayle King radio show. Fantasia not only discussed her new album with King, she described the incidents that led up to her overdose. "Well, [there] was so much going on that day, and I think you know that since I've been in the industry, there's always something going on in my life. And I take a licking and I keep on ticking," she told King. "I've never really had the chance to release. ... I wasn't prepared. I wasn't prepared for Hollywood ... I have feelings, I do. I'm human. But I cover them up well and I keep them moving like nothing is bothering me. "It was so heavy that day. ... I told Brian [my manager], 'I feel like I'm about to have a nervous breakdown,' " she recalled about the hours leading up to the overdose. "And again, because Brian knows I'm really strong, he says, 'You got it. We can get through this.' I just became overloaded that day." And with rumors of a relationship with a reportedly married man, Antwaun Cook, plaguing her, she retreated, saying that she couldn't even muster up the strength to go on for her daughter, Zion. "I couldn't do it for Zion and it just hurt me so bad and I was out of it, Gayle, and I never go to that point. And so I stayed in my room for three days," she said. "In the beginning [when I took the pills], I wanted to sleep ... and I said to myself, 'If I don't wake up, that might be good.' " She admits that while the Cook rumors were one of the many factors that led to her breakdown, the relationship wasn't the only factor. "When I met him, he was separated and in another home. And I don't think I would have even been attracted to him if he was with his wife," she said. "I definitely don't want something that belongs to someone else. I've been in a lot of bad relationships. What hit me was everything was so big. It was everywhere and I was afraid that my daughter would hear it. I felt like everybody was taking what they were hearing and running with it, and I just felt like, man, everyone's against me."

Fantasia Talks Overdose On 'Behind The Music': 'I Just Wanted Out'

Fantasia Barrino knew exactly what she was doing two weeks ago when she overdosed on aspirin and a sleep aid. "I didn't have any fight in me," she says in a new "Behind the Music" premiering Tuesday night on VH1. "I didn't care about anything. I just wanted out. At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with — all of it, all of that sh--." She's referring to the drama surrounding her alleged relationship with a married man, Antwaun Cook. A week after Barrino's suicide attempt, a lawyer for Cook and his wife, Paula, said the season-three "American Idol" champ was not responsible for breaking up their marriage. "He knew Fantasia Barrino, but the failure of his marriage can in no way be blamed on anyone except the two people that were a part of the union — Paula and Antwaun," lawyer Nicole Sodoma said of the Cooks, who have reportedly been separated for a year. Barrino's suicide attempt came about a week after Paula Cook filed documents in court alleging that Antwaun and Barrino began a "covert adulterous affair" in August 2009 and that the two made a sex tape, which she claimed led to the couple's divorce. The "Behind the Music" episode includes a brand-new interview that was taped Saturday in which Barrino discusses the recent events. "I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can't accidentally take a whole bottle of pills," she says on the show, according to People magazine. Single mom Barrino, 26, who has already returned to the promotional trail for her third album, Back to Me, which hits stores Tuesday, explains on the show that she felt like suicide was her only escape from the adultery allegations, People reported. "I was tired of people doing me wrong, constantly, over and over again, dealing with my family — my father, dealing with men and their sh-- — I was tired," she says. "My head was hurting me. I was over it." She says during the special that when she met Cook, he was separated from his wife and not living at home and that he didn't want to get back with Paula. "I remember waking up in the hospital [and thinking], 'It didn't work. I'm still here in this hellhole,' " she says. " 'Still here with all this drama going on.' " A nurse convinced the four-time Grammy nominee that she had not yet fulfilled her destiny and that she needed to walk out of the hospital on her own. "I realized how people end up in the grave," she says. "Because that one moment of just breaking or feeling like I can't, I can't go on, it's too heavy.
