Shakira might have said that she's lucky her breasts are "small and humble" in "Whenever, Wherever," but there was a time when she considered getting breast-augmentation surgery because she was unhappy with her body, the singer reveals in the next issue of Teen People. The magazine's latest cover star also said that wasn't the only plastic surgery she looked into. "I considered ... all kinds of things. 'Maybe my eyebrows should be higher. Maybe my lips should be bigger.' " Eventually Shakira came to accept herself, despite all the insecurities. "I'm actually shy; I've just learned to hide it." But her hips don't lie — and her dancing reveals more skin than she sometimes would like to show. "It's not my hobby to show my belly! The moves I do when I perform require it. People of America, I want you to know that I wear clothes once in a while!" ... Diddy introduced a select few to the next phase of Bad Boy Records Tuesday night in New York. Sean Combs held a small party at his Daddy's House studio and previewed music by newcomers Cheri Dennis and Yung Joc and veterans 8Ball and MJG. ... Jack White is preparing to unleash his brand-new band, the Raconteurs, on America — for one night, at least. On April 7, the band — which also features Detroit songwriter Brendan Benson and two-thirds of Cincinnati garage-rockers the Greenhornes — will play its first-ever U.S. gig at Irving Plaza in New York. Tickets go on sale Thursday at noon via Ticketmaster.com. The Rac's debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers, is due in stores May 16. ... Nick Lachey has decided on a title and release date for his second album: What's Left of Me, due May 9. The title is the same as the first single, which recently hit the airwaves. ... Paul Wall has titled his fall release Ain't No 401K for a Hustla. Wall is also set to appear alongside Lil' Keke on The Day Hell Broke Loose 3 compilation, due in August. ... Pimp-C will release a DVD documenting his experiences being incarcerated during the Houston boom in 2005 and what has happened after his recent release. "Pimpalation: Return of the Trill," hosted by MTV News' Sway, is due April 11 and will be followed by a CD called Pimpalation on June 13. ... Foo Fighters will be featured in a pair of episodes of "The West Wing." The shows will air Sunday and April 9 at 8 p.m. on NBC. ... Notorious B.I.G.'s family will receive $1.1 million from the city of Los Angeles after the City Council on Wednesday approved the amount U.S. District Judge Florence-Marie Cooper awarded in January. The money covers the family's legal expenses in a civil trial that was ruled a mistrial last year when it was discovered that the Los Angeles Police Department withheld statements that linked two rogue LAPD officers, David Mack and Rafael Perez, to the rapper's shooting. ... Could it really be over so soon? That's what former Howard Stern listeners across the East Coast and Midwest might have been asking themselves Wednesday morning (March 29) when they turned on their radios to find Stern replacement David Lee Roth absent. Yes, preliminary numbers for Roth have not been promising, but a CBS Radio spokesperson denied reports that the former Van Halen singer had been canned just three months into his gig, saying the motor-mouthed morning man was simply taking a few days off to travel back to New York after broadcasting from Miami Beach Monday and Tuesday. Roth is expected to be back on the air Friday. ... Elsewhere on the dial, Mighty Mighty Bosstones singer Dicky Barrett has attacked Los Angeles' Indie 103.1 after he was recently fired as host of the station's morning show. In a statement released by his publicist, Barrett said he was fired for expressing his dislike on air for a Morrissey song the station was spinning and for an unauthorized pro-choice conversation he had with a caller. Indie General Manager Dawn Girocco responded by saying Dicky was not as committed to the show as he needed to be. ... After complaints and a lawsuit earlier this year from a Louisiana man, Apple Computer released a software update Wednesday that allows iPod owners to set a maximum volume on their players. The free download works with Nanos and fifth-generation models that play video, and it also allows parents to set a volume limit on their child's iPod and lock it with a special code. The free update is available at apple.com/ipod/download. ... On Monday a judge ordered Michael Jackson and his ex-wife Debbie Rowe to submit copies of legal papers missing from their divorce file, The Associated Press reports. The documents, concerning the custody of the pair's two children, include Rowe's 2001 motion to terminate parental rights and an emergency motion filed two years later seeking temporary custody as well as Jackson's filing opposing his ex-wife's custody motion. Attorneys for Jackson and Rowe have 30 days to turn over the paperwork. A hearing has been set for May 24. ... As he awaits his murder trial, troubles keep mounting for famed "wall of sound" record producer Phil Spector. A former personal assistant has sued Spector for more than $5 million in Los Angeles, claming sexual harassment, according to an Associated Press report. Spector sued former assistant Michelle Blaine in September, alleging that she skimmed hundreds of thousands of dollars from his accounts. Blaine hit back on Friday, saying that Spector authorized the payments to her, including those for a $700,000 house and that he sexually harassed her, sometimes appeared naked in front of her and once asked Blaine to find a prostitute for him. Blaine also claims that after Spector was charged with the murder of actress Lana Clarkson in 2003, the producer repeatedly proposed marriage to her as a way to block her from testifying against him. Spector's murder trial is slated to begin in September. ... Eugene Landy, the show-business psychologist famous for his controversial relationship with troubled Beach Boys star Brian Wilson, died March 22 in Honolulu of complications from lung cancer, the Los Angeles Times reports. He was 71. Landy, who also worked with original shock rocker Alice Cooper and actor Rod Steiger, pioneered the concept of "24 hour therapy" when he began treating Wilson in the mid 1970s. Hired to work on Wilson's intense phobias and drug addictions, Landy took control of every aspect of the singer's life, monitoring him 24 hours a day and eventually acting as his manager and artistic collaborator, crossing an ethical line and eventually giving up his license to practice in California after admitting to a charge of unlawfully prescribing drugs in 1989. ... Prolific songwriter Cindy Walker, known as the "dean of Texas songwriters," died of natural causes Thursday at the age of 87, according to The Los Angeles Times. Walker was known for the more than 500 sentimental, Western-flavored songs she wrote, performed by everyone from Roy Orbison ("Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream)"), to Ray Charles ("You Don't Know Me"), with the latter covered by more than 75 artists, including Elvis Presley. Willie Nelson released an album-length tribute to Walker this month called You Don't Know Me: The Songs of Cindy Walker. Walker, often called the greatest living country music songwriter, was a charter member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997. 03.28.2006 Mariah Carey's been dreaming of a Broadway Christmas since late 2004, when she originally announced plans for a holiday musical, and now she's finally making progress with her plan. "I don't want to mention anything definitive until things are signed," she told MTV Radio, "but there's a very big company that just signed on to develop the project with me." Carey said the musical — which she'll create, produce and star in — will incorporate music from her 1994 album, Merry Christmas, as well as new material. "It's probably going to be a movie first," she said. "I don't want to say a television movie, because it's not like a cheesy network movie, but then it's going to be made for the Broadway production. So the [TV movie] will set the stage for the stage." ... It was nothing but royalty Monday night in New York as a king, queen and prince came together for the premiere of "ATL." T.I. Pharrell Williams is suing Reebok International for more than $4 million, accusing the manufacturer of his Billionaire Boys Club (BBC) clothing line of breach-of-contract. Williams filed the lawsuit before Christmas, claiming the sportswear giant didn't produce clothing meeting BBC's standards and failed to distribute the clothing line to stores by an agreed-upon deadline. A spokesperson for Reebok said that the suit was unexpected and the company is trying to resolve the issue out of court. ... A woman who claims she worked as a publicist for James Brown in the late 1980s has filed a federal lawsuit against him, alleging that he caused her to suffer Graves' disease (a basic defect in the immune system) because he raped her at gunpoint in 1988, according to The Associated Press. A lawyer for Brown says Jacque Hollander's charges are "baseless" and "too little, too late." While Hollander's lawyer agrees that the statute of limitation on a rape charge has run out, he says the suit has merit since his client's doctor only recently told her that her ailment, which she was diagnosed with in 2000, was caused by the alleged incident. Hollander is seeking $106 million in damages in a U.S. District Court in Chicago. Brown's reps could not be reached by press time for comment. ... Do you appear to be between the ages of 18 and 35 and really really like hard rock? If you said yes to either of those questions, the "Battle for Ozzfest" organizers want you to be a member of the audience at the final battle, which will take place on Sunday between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. in the Los Angeles area. Pink is plunging forward with her next album, according to her Web site. Supermodel Tyra Banks has put her debut album on hold, but insists she has not given up on a singing career. Slash's Las Vegas New Year's Eve celebration was cut short after the Velvet Revolver guitarist found out his cat had suffered a heart attack back in Los Angeles and had to be rushed to a veterinarian, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Jurassic 5 rapper Chali 2na has settled on Fish Out of Water as the title for his solo album, due in February. P. Diddy is keeping it simple when it comes to titling his next LP. Diddy has named his project PD5, and it's due in November, according to Universal Records. Technically, it'll only be his fourth album of all-new music (Diddy also has remix album under his belt, adding to his PD5 equation), and neither Universal nor Bad Boy had any word on who the man Farnsworth Bentley calls "The Chairman" will be working with. In the interim, Diddy certainly has enough projects to keep him and his staff busy. Carl Thomas just shot a video for a track called "Make It Alright" from his second LP, Let's Talk About It. That opus goes to stores March 23. Another soul crooner under the Bad Boy umbrella, Mario Winans, also just completed a clip. His "I Don't Wanna Know," which also features Diddy, should be airing in the next couple of weeks, and his album, Hurt No More, is slated for April 27. Meanwhile, Bad Boy's wildest act, Da Band, is working on a second album. So far they've been in the studio with Tony Dofat and Deric "D-Dot" Angelettie, but they're looking forward to opening the project up to more producers. "The first album was fire, but this one is real beautiful because we got more experiences now," said Young City a.k.a. Chopper. "Man, you just gotta hear it. You would think we live right next door to Satan, how fire this album is gonna be." For the third season of "Making the Band 2," the group did not have Lucifer as their neighbor, but Diddy was their roommate. All six members lived in his Manhattan mansion. "You had to be on point," said Babs. "You never knew when he would pop up." Before Bad Boy's Da Band drops this summer, look for new albums by 8Ball & MJG and New Edition. Season three of "Making the Band 2" premieres March 4 at 10 p.m.

Flex said that playas such as P. Diddy, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes and Wyclef Jean will submit vehicles and try to snatch the championship from hip-hop's "#1 Stunna,"Baby of Cash Money, who was last year's winner. ... Nearly seven months after it was recorded, Incubus' home video "The Morning View Sessions" will be released on VHS and DVD. The laid-back performance video, which more resembles an informal jam session than an actual concert, was recorded at Sony Studios in New York the day the band's fourth album, Morning View, dropped. ... Kelly Osbourne will sing her cover of Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" at her live debut at KIIS-FM's Wango Tango festival June 15 in Pasadena, California. The song will be featured on The Osbournes Family Album, due June 11. ... A few weeks after dropping the greatest-hits package Work in early June, electronic duo Orbital will release the next volume in the Back to Mine chillout compilation series. Highlights on the mix include the previously unreleased Orbital track "Ska'd for Life" and material from PJ Harvey and the Divine Comedy. ... 05.17.02 The man who insists he invented the remix, P. Diddy, is working on new material with Justin Timberlake. Diddy's production partner Mario Winans said their team has fashioned an uptempo Justin solo track that will burn the dancefloors. ... Britney Spears is offering 10 pairs of choice seats for each stop on her summer tour, as well as passes to soundcheck at select venues, through an online auction at www.britneyspears.com beginning Friday (May 17). Proceeds from the auction will benefit the singer's children's charity, the Britney Spears Foundation. ... Look for Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston to share a toast on the beach in the upcoming video for Ja Rule's "Down Ass Chick" remix. Sevendust have recruited their pals in Creed to donate an autographed guitar and drumsticks for an eBay auction to benefit the family of Cameron Gallion, the 14-year-old who appeared in Sevendust's "Praise" video. Gallion died of cancer last February. ... The members of Sum41 may be flippant jesters about most things, but they're pretty stone-faced when it comes to protecting wildlife. The group recently set a letter to Manitoban Minister of Conservation Oscar Lathlin on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, urging him to force the Suarez Bros. Circus to release six polar bears, three of which were caught in Manitoba. ... Beck has finished recording his as-yet-untitled next album with producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead). Due September 24, the record is said to be acoustic pop in the vein of 1998's Mutations. ... One of Beck's favorite bands, Icelandic experimentalists Sigur Rós, are nearly done with the follow-up to Ágætis Byrjun and are eyeing a fall release. On the band's Icelandic record label Web site, singer/guitarist Jon Thor Birgisson described the material as having "far fewer little slick things and much less sweet stuff" than their acclaimed debut. ... Korn, System of a Down and Eminem may have been bested by Web warriors recently, but R.E.M. didn't wait for Internet pirates to raid their latest sonic treasures. Nearly seven months after it was recorded, Incubus' home video "The Morning View Sessions" will be released on VHS and DVD. The laid-back performance video, which more resembles an informal jam session than an actual concert, was recorded at Sony Studios in New York the day the band's fourth album, Morning View, dropped. ... Kelly Osbourne will sing her cover of Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach" at her live debut at KIIS-FM's Wango Tango festival June 15 in Pasadena, California. The song will be featured on The Osbournes Family Album, due June 11. ... A few weeks after dropping the greatest-hits package Work in early June, electronic duo Orbital will release the next volume in the Back to Mine chillout compilation series. Highlights on the mix include the previously unreleased Orbital track "Ska'd for Life" and material from PJ Harvey and the Divine Comedy. ... 05.17.02 The man who insists he invented the remix, P. Diddy, is working on new material with Justin Timberlake. Diddy's production partner Mario Winans said their team has fashioned an uptempo Justin solo track that will burn the dancefloors. ... Britney Spears is offering 10 pairs of choice seats for each stop on her summer tour, as well as passes to soundcheck at select venues, through an online auction at www.britneyspears.com beginning Friday (May 17). Proceeds from the auction will benefit the singer's children's charity, the Britney Spears Foundation. ... Look for Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston to share a toast on the beach in the upcoming video for Ja Rule's "Down Ass Chick" remix. Houston's own video shouldn't be out before too long; her label, Arista Records, said her next LP is scheduled for August 6. ... Sevendust have recruited their pals in Creed to donate an autographed guitar and drumsticks for an eBay auction to benefit the family of Cameron Gallion, the 14-year-old who appeared in Sevendust's "Praise" video. Gallion died of cancer last February. ... The members of Sum41 may be flippant jesters about most things, but they're pretty stone-faced when it comes to protecting wildlife. The group recently set a letter to Manitoban Minister of Conservation Oscar Lathlin on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, urging him to force the Suarez Bros. Circus to release six polar bears, three of which were caught in Manitoba. ... Beck has finished recording his as-yet-untitled next album with producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead). One of Beck's favorite bands, Icelandic experimentalists Sigur Rós, are nearly done with the follow-up to Ágætis Byrjun and are eyeing a fall release. Bad Boy Family, Eminem's crew blow into Miami to film segments for Hip-Hop Music Awards.

MIAMI BEACH, Florida — Some of hip-hop's biggest names had yet to make their way to the Jackie Gleason Theater a few hours before the Source Hip-Hop Music Awards show was to begin taping late Monday afternoon (August 20). Others had dropped out entirely. Snoop Dogg was scheduled to perform but pulled out at the last minute for undisclosed reasons, and multiple nominee Jay-Z also decided to skip the event. P. Diddy and the Bad Boy Family, like Eminem and D12, won't be at Monday's show but will still be a part of the program, which will air August 28 on UPN. They pre-taped their performances over the weekend along with Trick Daddy, Ludacris and Nate Dogg, and Jadakiss and the Lox. The Source kicked off the weekend Friday by transforming Watson Island into tropical "Source Island." Off camera, the setting looked anything but a remote getaway inasmuch as the grounds were cluttered with the four Bs: Benzes, Bentleys, (motor) bikes and (tour) buses. Before taping his spot Friday, P. Diddy stalked the stage in his Sean John gear and designer flip-flops. Giant lights spelled out "Bad Boy" behind him. Things almost got ugly when P. Diddy finally took the stage to rehearse. A noticeably peeved Diddy tried to maintain his composure despite his dissatisfaction with the set. "I want to be fully blown," he bellowed. "I want the Michael Jackson lights!" Diddy will be shooting videos for "That's Crazy" and "Blast Off" in Los Angeles the day of the Source awards. Eminem and D12 will miss the event for the same reason and hoped to be done with their taping here by midnight in order to catch a plane. No problem, right? Wrong. All the other acts combined took half as much time as Diddy to rehearse and tape their performances. Trick Daddy sat in his trailer, getting irked. However, the dozens of kids he brought with him to perform "I'm a Thug" didn't seem to mind that they'd be up way past their bedtimes. They clamored around Method Man for autographs and pictures. Meth's co-hosts for the taping, Redman and Keith Murray, passed the time cracking jokes. "Its all love to have everybody together like this," said Ludacris in front of his trailer. "This my first Source nomination. We 'bout to get onstage and act a complete monkey." After more than two hours, Diddy was ready to perform. He started with "Ride With Me," featuring Eightball and MJG, then brought on the Bad Boy Family for "Bad Boy for Life," complete with a little kid doing the Harlem Shake. But wait: he wants another take. "Puff's a perfectionist," explained Eightball after the performance. Eightball was grateful for the weekend's festivities. "It's love to be a part of it," he said. "I just hope that don't nobody bring none of the street sh-- to the show this year because this is one of the biggest celebrations of hip-hop we have." Last year's awards ceremony in Pasadena, California, was marred by a fight that forced organizers to stop the show; the missing parts were taped for the TV broadcast of the event (see "Police Shut Down Source Awards After Fights Break Out" and "Source Awards To Be Restaged For TV"). Organizers have promised new security procedures this year. Em and D12 eventually got onstage at 2:18 a.m. for "Purple Hills" — although the guys must have forgot this was for TV, since they performed the explicit lyrics of the song's album version, "Purple Pills." "Guys, could you please not say f---, sh-- or pills?," a crew member requested. Jadakiss, who performed "Knock Yourself Out" and "We Gon' Make It," was last up and got the short end of the stick. Not only did he not get to rehearse, but fireworks accompanied only one of his two takes, the fire marshal having declared them over for the evening. Many artists spent Saturday shooting videos. Hype Williams got Ludacris, Murray and L.L. Cool J animated and sexy for the clip to accompany their joint musical venture, "Fatty Girl." Across town, the Ruff Ryders brought their snarls and grimaces to the camera for their "We Gon' Make It" remix directed by J. Jesses Smith. Sunday night, while Mary J. Blige and the So So Def family geared up for late-night tapings of their respective performances, Russell Simmons co-hosted the Hip-Hop Image Awards, a dinner and fund-raiser for the Source Youth Foundation. Among those honored for their contributions to the hip-hop community were Master P, Shaquille O'Neal, Rap-A-Lot records CEO James Prince and the Fubu clothing company. Lil' Romeo and Case performed, and Jesse Jackson delivered the keynote address. Jackson urged the audience — which included DMX, Scarface, boxer Roy Jones Jr. and NBA star Jalen Rose — to "save our children" and "keep hope alive." "This is exciting, watching this thing unfold," Simmons said before the fund-raiser. "We're all anticipating a big success. There's not gonna be no incidents. The hip-hop community has always had camaraderie, but that's not written about. The negative stuff is reported." Ja Rule and Case have been added to Monday's program and will perform "Livin' It Up" from Ja's upcoming album, Pain Is Love. Busta Rhymes and Vivica Fox will host the Source awards Monday evening.

Eightball & MJG's "Lifetime" Can't Be Confused With Jay-Z's

Eightball & MJG's new album, "In Our Lifetime, Vol. 1" hit stores on Tuesday, and it features cameos by Outkast and Cee-Lo of the Goodie M.O.B. as well as production by Organized Noize.
If the title has a familiar ring to it, it could be because it recalls that of Jay-Z's 1997 album, "In My Lifetime, Vol. 1." Is the duo anticipating any confusion? Not at all, as Eightball explained to MTV News.
"Jay-Z: one person in my lifetime. Eightball and then Jay-Z: two people in our lifetime. See what I'm saying?" said Eightball. "It ain't no way connected. Our [Eightball & MJG] last album together was in '95. So... we thought 'In Our Lifetime' would be a perfect title for our single album. It's our fourth album together." [RealVideo]
And of course, the rap duo's album, unlike Jay-Z's, sounds as if it was made in the South.
