First comes love, then comes marriage, and now comes confirmation that singer Lily Allen is soon to be pushing a baby carriage. The 26-year-old singer wed decorator and businessman Sam Cooper on Saturday at St. James the Great Church in Gloucestershire, England. The nuptials weren't all the couple had to celebrate: according to People magazine, the groom confirmed to several wedding guests that the newlyweds are expecting a child. Allen and Cooper began dating in the summer of 2009. They got engaged while vacationing in Indonesia in December. In November 2010 Allen suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage, her second. Shortly thereafter she was hospitalized with septicaemia, a dangerous infection characterized by the presence of bacteria in the blood. But on Saturday her troubles seemed far behind her. The singer looked radiant in her long-sleeve lace gown by French designer Delphine Manivet. Manivet spoke about the "It's Not Me, It's You" singer's pregnancy to British paper The Telegraph, saying, "It's beautiful that she is pregnant, and I am very happy for her. She is very happy about that — it is something wonderful. "For me, and for her too, when you are pregnant you want to show that, but also be respectful, so the dress was perfect for her, for that moment," the designer added. The bride was given away by her father, actor Keith Allen, and gripped a bouquet of white roses as she exited the church with Cooper. The crowd of friends and family cheered as the couple entered a waiting car and drove off.

Nearly two months after suffering a miscarriage, Lily Allen is reportedly planning to marry beau Sam Cooper. According to the Daily Mail, Cooper popped the question to the British songstress while they were vacationing in Indonesia over the Christmas holiday. He proposed to her on a balcony overlooking the Indian Ocean, the newspaper reports. They then celebrated their engagement at the hotel bar, where they drank champagne. "Lily was telling everyone that she and Sam had just got engaged — they could not keep the smiles off their faces," a source said. "It couldn't have been more romantic. The resort is just so peaceful and picturesque."   The couple began dating in the summer of 2009, and a source tells the British newspaper that they have been trying to deal with her miscarriage. "It has been a terrible time for Lily and Sam, but they are totally in love with one another," the source explained. "It all came out of the blue — but Lily was overwhelmed and they are both overjoyed. They can look to the future now."  The Sun reports that the singer is overjoyed by the engagement. "Lily is absolutely beaming and emotional at the same time. She had no idea Sam was going to propose and said 'Yes' instantly," a source said. "He's been her rock for her since the couple lost their baby and she can't wait to spend the rest of her life with him."   While there hasn't been any official word on the engagement, Allen did tweet about her vacation. "I'm on holiday. Thank the Lord. X," she wrote on December 19. Days later she added, "Happy Holidays everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx."   In the past Allen has gushed about Cooper, an upmarket decorator and owner of a building company, saying, "Sam treats me differently. He's told me he'll look after me forever. That's what I've always wanted — someone to look after me. We've never had one argument and there's absolutely nothing about him that annoys me. He's not impressed by what I do."   Allen joins a few other newly engaged celebrity couples, including LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian and Natalie Portman and Benjamin Millepied.

After being hospitalized for a blood infection last week, Lily Allen's condition is improving, according to People.com. Additionally, sources say that letters fans have been sending the British pop chanteuse have helped boost her spirits. "Lily thanks everyone for their messages of support and again asks that she and partner Sam Cooper be left alone whilst she recovers," her rep Murray Chalmers said in a statement about the pop star. News of the singer's hospitalization broke on Saturday. She has septicaemia, a dangerous infection characterized by the presence of bacteria in the blood. It can be brought on by other infections in the body, such as conditions in the abdomen, lungs and urinary tract. "Lily Allen is back in hospital, where she is being treated for septicaemia," her rep had said on Saturday. "She is responding well to treatment and her condition continues to improve." On Friday, the singer expressed her gratitude for all the well wishes she had been receiving from fans during this difficult time. "Thank you for all your kind messages," Allen tweeted. Earlier this month, news broke that Allen had suffered a miscarriage. It was the singer's second. "It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby," her rep Murray Chalmers said at the time. "The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made."

British singer Lily Allen has been hospitalized for treatment of a blood condition, days after enduring her second miscarriage. "Lily Allen is back in hospital, where she is being treated for septicaemia," her rep told U.K. publication the Daily Mail on Saturday (November 6) "She is responding well to treatment and her condition continues to improve." Septicaemia also known as Septicemia, is a dangerous infection characterized by the presence of bacteria in the blood. It can be brought on by other infections in the body, such as conditions in the abdomen, lungs and urinary tract. The condition has occurred just days after the singer confirmed she had suffered a second miscarriage after losing a child in 2008. "It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby," her rep Murray Chalmers said Monday, according to People.com. "The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made." Allen and Cooper, who owns a building company, have been dating since July 2009. The couple announced the pregnancy in August after getting the all-clear from her doctor following her first trimester. The pair was expecting a son. Unfortunately, this is not the first time Allen has endured a miscarriage. The singer lost her first child with her then boyfriend, Ed Simons of The Chemical Brothers, two years ago. On Friday, the singer expressed her gratitude for all the well-wishes she had been receiving from fans during this difficult time. "Thank you for all your kind messages," Allen tweeted. British songstress Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage. The singer confirmed the news through a statement made by her publicist. "It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Lily Allen and Sam Cooper have lost their baby," her rep Murray Chalmers said, according to People.com. "The couple ask that their privacy be respected and that they be left alone at this deeply distressing time. No further comment will be made." Allen, 25, announced she was pregnant back in August and just weeks ago announced that she and 32-year-old Cooper, an upmarket decorator and owner of a building company, were expecting a boy this January. Allen revealed the pregnancy after receiving a scan at the end of her first trimester. Allen and Cooper began dating in July 2009. "It goes without saying we are both absolutely delighted," she said at the time. "Sam treats me differently. He's told me he'll look after me forever. That's what I've always wanted — someone to look after me. We've never had one argument and there's absolutely nothing about him that annoys me. He's not impressed by what I do." E! reports that Allen was set to perform at Elton John's AIDS fundraiser in London a few days ago but didn't. She said she was suffering from a viral infection and had to remain on bed rest. In December 2007, Allen and former boyfriend Ed Simmons of the Chemical Brothers announced that they were expecting a child together. She suffered a miscarriage one month later.

Next fall, Simon Cowell will bring his highly rated "The X Factor" to the U.S. And while speculation is already rampant about whom he'll hire to judge the show, there's one pop star he can definitely cross off his list: Lily Allen.

Seems she's not exactly a fan of the show — which has been a staple on U.K. television since it premiered in 2004 and is currently embroiled in an Auto-Tune controversy — and she let the entire world know in a series of tweets posted on her account over the weekend. "X factor: FAIL. Too set up/scripted in my humble opinion," Allen wrote on her account. "It's sh--. FACT ! It's everything that I detest about modern western culture. Cowell is the only one who really benefits." And after jousting with a few "X Factor" supporters, she turned her ire back to Cowell, accusing him of cornering the market on televised talent contests for his own nefarious purposes. "I don't know how Simon Cowell has managed to get away with essentially copywriting [sic] the talent contest. It's beyond me, really," she wrote. Allen was also asked by a Twitter user if she was bitter because she'd never been asked to serve as a guest judge on the show, which set her off again. "I'd rather actually eat my own crap than sit next to any of those goons. Except [judge] Cheryl [Cole], obvs," she wrote. "I've better things to do with my time than feed the nation with the notion that doing cover versions will sort your life out." Her rant apparently over, Allen returned to tweeting about airport security lines and the fate of the Fulham football team. Of course, a day later, her old nemesis Perez Hilton picked up on the story, and — as he is seemingly required by law to do — shot back with a tweet of his own, writing that he'd "love to watch" Allen eat her own crap. Allen, perhaps not knowing how these things always turn out, took the bait, writing, "Mr. Hilton, you must come to one of my dinner parties next time you're in London, and I'll be sure to serve you up a big helping." Lily Allen revealed last September that she was preparing to take a break from music, declining to renew her record contract and saying she had no plans whatsoever to release a new album anytime soon. And while she plans to put her music career on hold after fulfilling her current performance commitments, she'll have anything but a ton of free time in the future. The 25-year-old Allen has announced that she and her boyfriend are set to become parents. "Lily Allen and Sam Cooper are very happy to confirm that Lily is expecting their first child," her rep told People. "Lily's professional commitments will carry on as normal, including a scheduled performance at the Big Chill this weekend." Allen posted a photo of herself holding up a copy of the U.K.'s The Sun, with the oversized headline "Lily: I'm Preggers," on Twitter. Allen tweeted, "Not quite front page worthy but anyways...surreal." Cooper, the owner of a building company, and Allen have been dating since July 2009. Perez Hilton, Lily Allen Back At War On Twitter

Latest feud began when gossip blogger posted pictures of singer crying at football match.

Lily Allen and Perez Hilton have a long (and quite amusing) history of Twitter feuds, stretching all the way back to the winter of 2009, when the two engaged in an epic war of words that culminated in the Brit songstress calling the blogger "a parasite" and "a cheap-ass whore." It was pretty entertaining, to be honest. Round two went down in August of the same year, when Hilton posted a photo of Allen on his Web site (with the caption "Lily Allen + Motherhood = Bad Idea") and linked to an interview she had given to Britain's OK! magazine, in which she said she wanted to retire from the music business and raise a family. Hilton used said interview to rip Allen's virtues as a wannabe mom, writing, "We foresee the afternoon that Lily gets so drunk, she confuses the playpen for the pig pen and her baby has to waddle in mud for hours before someone notices!" Allen — who reportedly had suffered a miscarriage the previous year — was somewhat understandably upset and ripped into Hilton, calling him "an evil bastard" and threatening legal action. (Hilton, of course, responded with "I love you too! xoxo.") It was sort of disgusting, to be honest. And now, well, the two are back at it again. Late Thursday, Hilton posted pictures of Allen "sobbing out all the vodka" while attending the UEFA Europa League Final match between Fulham FC (whom she supports) and Atlético Madrid. Fulham lost, 2-1, which might explain why Allen was caught crying on TV — who knows, maybe she's into sports — but, according to Hilton, her tears were due to the fact that "she must have gotten waaaaaasted during the match ... we bet the players couldn't concentrate with the RANK smell of booze and despair seeping off of her in the crowd." Classy. Anyway, of course, this angered Allen, who linked to Hilton's post and wrote, "Yeah, sure, I got wasted sitting next to my granddad," and then pointed out the fact that there were plenty of pictures of other famous Fulham fans drinking during the match, but Hilton didn't post any of those. "That guy is a such a woman-hating retard," she wrote. "There are pictures of Hugh Grant at the same game sipping pints, he didn't publish those though ... oh, and p.s. [Perez], I was up the next morning in London doing promotion for WWF's Rainforest Rescue at 6 a.m., so go pick on someone else." Hilton, of course, responded, claiming he was offended that Allen called him a "retard," and then hit back at her, writing "Oh, and P.S. You're a tw--! Xoxo." As of press time, Allen had yet to respond to that barb, perhaps signaling the end of this feud. Hilton, on the other hand, has since gotten back to business as usual.

The Best Albums Of 2009, In Bigger Than The Sound

Well, we made it. 2009 is practically in the books, and now it's time to look back on the rather, uh, zany year that was. Last week, I published my list of the year's Best Songs, and now, it's time for the albums. It's a fairly lengthy list, because, like I wrote in my songs column, there's perhaps no better way to sum up the year than by looking back on the soundtrack to it all. And it just so happens that there were plenty of albums that did just that. But before we get to my list, I want to point out that, yes, I'm very much aware that "the album" is a fairly dead concept, but so is the idea that Obama is a socialist, and we spent roughly three-quarters of 2009 screaming about that, didn't we? So, without further ado, here are my picks for the Best Albums of 2009 — the straightforward and the skewed, the silly and the serious, the artistic and the arrhythmic. Five kids from Long Island make the best Modest Mouse album since The Lonesome Crowded West, a sawing, slurring, snarling thing, full of enough wobbly fretwork and muddled melodies to give Isaac Brock pause. Songs like "At the Bottom" and "Gasoline" writhe like a beheaded snake, "Vices" wails like a wraith, and "Be Gone," well, it basically just sounds like an Ugly Casanova B-side. Still, after a dozen years, it's nice to finally have the old MM back in our lives, especially when the new one seems content to simply re-record sea shanties. 19. Kid Cudi, Man on the Moon: The End of Day
Scott Mescudi certainly remembers the D.A.I.S.Y. age, and Moon is his attempt to match De La Soul's 3 Feet High and Rising. Does he succeed? Not entirely, but there's enough here — the collaborations with Kanye West and Ratatat, the vivid storytelling, the fact that Common narrates the thing — to make it perhaps the most worthwhile near-miss in recent memory. A wonderfully weird album, it left me wondering where Cudi could possibly go from here. Perhaps he's already at work on his version of De La Soul Is Dead? 18. Wilco, Wilco (The Album)
NPR (The Album). Brunch (The Album). Antiquing (The Album). This is Wilco at their most buttoned-down, making their most straightforward album in years, and yet, despite the gray around their temples, this is still a very youthful album, honed by a relentless touring schedule and some really deft production work. The songs here are given room to breathe, to stretch their legs and walk a bit. There's blood and muscle and sweat here too. The best "live" album I've heard in years, despite it not actually being a live album. Think about that. 17. Dinosaur Jr., Farm
Sleepy-eyed, bed-headed, sweatpants rock from a trio of guys who look very much like they've resigned themselves to a life of couch-surfing and resin-scraping. Only, they haven't, and the proof is in the excellent, curlicue guitar work of songs like "Plans" and "I Don't Wanna Go There." There's hope there and muted dreams too. It's proof that good posture isn't a requirement for rocking out, that the couch can be a launching pad and that there's magic in that resin. 16. The Decemberists, The Hazards of Love
Correctly criticized for bring overly long and overwhelmingly bookish, yet those are precisely the reasons I liked this one so much. Hazards is the Decemberists unchained, free to meander into stuff like stony prog-rock and twee folk, unashamed to give songs names like "The Prettiest Whistles Won't Wrestle the Thistles Undone." Another concept album, this one encompasses a lovelorn lass, a shape-shifting boy, a deceitful rake, a magical river and a murderous forest queen (to name just a few) and features more doomy riffs than you'd ever think possible. Librarians shouldn't shred this hard, but here, they do. 15. The XX, XX
The year's best debut. An icy, wiry album that features stone-faced boy/girl vocals, angular, post-punk guitars and windswept, barren synth gusts (often on the same song — see "Crystalized" or "Basic Space" for proof). XX is an embracingly lo-fi yet also strangely distant listen. It doesn't sound like anyone involved in its creation was having much fun, but then again, they are achingly British. 14. Mos Def, The Ecstatic
Like the title (which, Wikipedia tells me, was lifted from a book by Queens author Victor LaVelle) implies, this is Mos Def in full celebratory mode, which explains the joyous boogie of songs like "Casa Bey" or "Quiet Dog Bite Hard." But given that it's Mos, things also get slightly weird — the blurred vocals on "Twilite Speedball," the sorta-samba on "Pistola" — and unabashedly political, like the Malcolm X sample that opens the album or "Auditorium," which features Slick Rick as a soldier in Iraq. Party hard, Mos seems to be saying, because there are dark times ahead. 13. Bat for Lashes, Two Suns
An exploration of the duality of life, love and loss, Natasha Khan (she's Bat for Lashes, in case you didn't know) went deep on Two Suns, leaving her native England for places like California's Joshua Tree and New York, cultivating an alternate identity (Pearl) who nearly dragged her down into destruction. But the end result was a spate of marvelous songs, swooning, nocturnal pop like "Daniel" and "Pearl's Dream." Like Kate Bush before her, Khan draws from her personal life, but she's at her best when she throws on the ethereal veil. And that's what she does here. 12. Kelly Clarkson, All I Ever Wanted
Built in a lab by the best pop-music minds in the business, equipped with all weapons necessary to assault the Hot 100, All I Ever Wanted is the musical equivalent of a gigantic, shiny Gundam suit, with Clarkson at the controls. It's no wonder it's her best album in years. Her voice powers "My Life Would Suck Without You" and "I Do Not Hook Up" into the stratosphere, and on songs like "Cry" or album-closer "If No One Will Listen," she gets subtle (or, you know, as subtle as a former "American Idol" champ with dynamite pipes can get). It didn't exactly burn up the charts, but that hardly matters. All I Ever Wanted is Clarkson's return to form. 11. Shakira, She Wolf
Sublimely silly, supremely sexy global pop, She Wolf features more popping and locking than a chiropractor's convention and more panting than a kennel. With the title track and the excellently effervescent "Men in This Town," Shakira has created two of the year's greatest songs, undoubtedly the soundtrack to the space disco in her head. Throw in some revenge fantasies, broken English and the occasional line about Matt Damon, and you've got the years most unabashed album. And there's no one else on the planet who could've made it. 10. Amadou & Miriam, Welcome to Mali
Released late last year in Europe, Welcome to Mali didn't find its way to the States until March, but it was worth the wait. Sure, you could focus on the fact that A&M are married, blind and play a wondrous brand of so-called "Afro-Blues," a mixture of Malian traditional, Indian rhythms and Egyptian wind instruments, with some good old-fashion rock and roll thrown in for good measure. But instead, listen to the joyous keyboards of album opener "Sabali" or the funky meter of "Sebeke" and try to tell me this isn't an album for all people, everywhere. Shoot, even K'Naan comes off good here, and that's saying something. 9. Lily Allen, It's Not Me, It's You
Basically the polar opposite of every other pop album on this list, It's Not Me ... isn't the end-product of the endless tinkerings of the pop elite, nor is it particularly pop in any of its sentiments. Instead, it's a handcrafted, deeply personal thing, a complicated, sad, funny, sarcastic album that pulls no punches and spares no target, including Allen herself. Songs like "The Fear," "Not Fair," "Back to the Start" and "Who'd Have Known" crackle with humor, biting social commentary and even outright sadness, and they showcase Allen's growing skill as a lyricist. She's endlessly complicated — celebrating her independence one moment ("Never Gonna Happen"), craving the support of a lover the next ("Chinese") — and delightfully odd (who else would assume God's favorite band is Creedence Clearwater Revival?), not to mention brave, wickedly funny and incredibly smart. Too bad she's reportedly giving up music. Though, as far as swan songs go, you could do a lot worse than It's Not Me, It's You. 8. Grizzly Bear, Veckatimest
Achingly pretty indie pop with a dark side, Veckatimest bends the lines into chamber music, psych-rock and even folk, creating a beautiful haze to lose oneself (and one's mind) in. Songs like "Two Weeks" and "Ready, Able" are ghostly, gorgeous things (with appropriately creepy videos to boot), proof that not only can Grizzly Bear write pop songs, but they can do it better than pretty much anybody. That this album debuted at #8 on the Billboard albums chart — and earned them props from Jay-Z — was only icing on the cake. Sometimes, nice guys do finish first ... or, at least, in the top 10. Even if they are somewhat creepy. 7. Jay-Z, The Blueprint 3

Is Lily Allen Quitting The Music Business?

Lily Allen isn't renewing her record contract, and she's got no plans to release a new album anytime soon, or possibly ever. Or maybe she does? On Thursday (September 24), Allen took to her just-launched "It's Not Alright" blog — which she started earlier this week to discuss and debate the issue of music piracy (which she is against, because it "[has] a dangerous effect on British music ... it's making it harder and harder for new acts to emerge — to announce that she's quitting the music business, mostly, it appeared, because of the abuse she got from fans over her anti-piracy stance. "Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record (applause). I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade," Allen wrote. "The days of me making money from recording music has been and gone as far as I'm concerned ... Slagging me, my music and my so-called 'family connections' off, and calling me a government puppet is not going to get anyone anywhere, so stop it. I think people assume we artists are a lot richer than you think we are, please bear in mind this doesn't have anything to do with me or my wealth." Hours later, Allen deleted not just the post, but her entire blog because, as she would later write on her Twitter account, "the abuse was getting too much." It's not as if the news is exactly shocking, given that Allen has been talking about quitting music and raising a family ever since she started doing press for her It's Not Me, It's You album earlier this year. But does she mean it? And if so, what does that mean for Allen's string of International tour dates, which run until December? MTV News emailed Allen's label, Capitol Records, seeking comment on the situation, but we were told to contact her management company. As of press time, the singer's manager has yet to respond to MTV News' request for comment. However, her U.K. rep told England's New Musical Express that Allen most definitely "is not quitting music," and that "she is not thinking about her next album right now because she is still in the middle of promoting her current record."
