Unlike the typical judges'-panel drama unfolding over at "American Idol," it looks like NBC newcomer "The Voice" has locked down its diva for a second season: Christina Aguilera will be back on the small screen in the spring. According to The Hollywood Reporter, despite rumors to the contrary, an unnamed source said Aguilera actually agreed to give it another go on the reality singing competition "weeks ago." The good news for fans of the upstart show is that Aguilera will be seated in the tall-backed chairs next to all her homeboys, as Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine, country star Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green have also officially re-inked. Citing an unnamed source, Us Weekly reported Thursday (June 30) that the entire quartet have signed on for a second season. Shelton recently told a Knoxville, Tennessee, radio station that he'd love to come back for another run. "The reality of it is, you've got four different artists who are doing completely different things and a network that has a time schedule that they want things to happen in," he said. "Who knows what'll happen, but I'd hate to miss it." Levine — who mentored Javier Colon to a win on Wednesday night — also seemed eager to make a return engagement. "Yeah, that's the question that everyone's asking me," he told the Reporter earlier this week about the constant questions about whether he'll be back. "I'd hate to say for sure, but I think so. If they'll have me, I'd be delighted to be back." The show has been renewed for another season and is expected to make its second bow after the Super Bowl in the spring. The Reporter also revealed that the pay scale on the show has Aguilera far out-earning her fellow coaches, raking in a reported $225,000 per episode to the men's $75,000 each. The quick re-sign of Aguilera is in contrast to the drama at the granddaddy of hit TV reality singing shows, "Idol." While veteran judge Randy Jackson and newbie Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler are onboard for the upcoming 11th season, it remains unclear if the other new face of the series, Jennifer Lopez, will be back. With her music career revived, thanks to the exposure of "Idol," Lopez has been coy about whether she's willing to give it another shot. "You know, this is the question of the hour," she said earlier this month in an interview with BBC's Radio 1. "I don't know. I haven't been forced to make a decision, and I'm glad about that because, honestly, I'm very on the fence about it. I had an amazing time doing it and I loved it, but I have a lot of other things happening, and it's going to come down to me making a choice of what I want to do for the next year, and we're not really at the breaking point of, 'You have to make a decision right now!' Maroon 5's Adam Levine has already made a compelling argument for why his band's new single, "Moves Like Jagger," deserves to be your pick for the Summer Jam of 2011: Basically, unless you want to have the worst beach trip ever, you will add the song to your playlist.

But now, with the new "Jagger" video, Levine's making an equally compelling argument for why the Rolling Stones frontman deserves to be a part of your summer, too — mainly because he's pretty much the coolest guy ever. "We were lucky enough to get Mick's endorsement [for the video], as far as him giving us access to a bunch of different footage that's so cool," Levine explained. "Not many people have seen [it], especially a newer generation of people that don't know so much about how incredible he was." Maroon 5 teamed with director Jonas Åkerlund — who's helmed clips for everyone from Lady Gaga and Britney Spears to the Prodigy and Blink-182 — for the "Jagger" video, which allowed the band to focus its attention on replicating the icon's moves. "It's kind of a hodgepodge of many different ideas that we wanted to do, and Jonas Åkerlund is at the helm of this whole thing, and he's so talented and we love working with him, and this is going to be another great video, I think," Levine said. "We trust him so much that we can kind of take ourselves out of it a little more and just be like, 'He's Jonas, so he'll do his thing.' "

Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera are taking viewers on a nostalgic romp through the '70s in their new video for "Moves Like Jagger." The four-and-a-half-minute clip, which debuted Tuesday (August 9), takes place at the historic L.A. Theatre and, as the song title suggests, features a lot of people trying to move like Mick Jagger.

The Jonas Åkerlund-directed clip opens with black-and-white footage of the theater, shots of work crews assembling lighting and equipment onstage and groups of extras getting into costume, warming up for a shoot. This is followed by classic footage of Jagger, during which a reporter asks the iconic Rolling Stones frontman how long he plans to make music. "I don't know. I never thought I'd be doing it for two years even," a young Jagger says, as the opening whistles of the Maroon 5 song kick in, throughout which a slew of Jagger look-alikes are shown dancing up to a central microphone, interlaced with archival footage of Jagger himself and shots of bandmembers James Valentine, Jesse Carmichael, Michael Madden and Matt Flynn rocking out on their instruments. Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine eventually takes center stage to start singing wearing nothing but snug-fitting polyester pants and his colorful tattoos. True to its name, the video is mostly a mash-up of people trying to move like Jagger, including Levine. When Aguilera makes her brief appearance, she fits right into the retro feel with mascara-heavy lashes and a floppy hat. We don't see her Jagger moves, though. For the eagle-eyed fans out there, watch out for the cheeky "Who the f--- is Mick Jagger?" T-shirt Levine and several extras sport at various moments in the clip. For Levine and his bandmates, the song and video are all about exposing a new generation to the rock legend. Michael Jackson Estate Threatens Legal Action Over Tribute Concert

'Michael Forever' concert rescinds invitation for Kiss to perform following complaints from estate and fans.

Several weeks after announcing their intention to celebrate the life of Michael Jackson with an all-star concert called "Michael Jackson Forever," the initial lineup for the October 8 show at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, was revealed last week. According to promoters, the Michael Forever show is slated to feature such stars as Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Motown legend Smokey Robinson, in addition to less globally popular talents, including Alexandra Burke, Pixie Lott, Leona Lewis, JLS, Craig David, Alien Ant Farm and a pair of Jackson-related groups, 3T and the Jackson Brothers. The one thing the event does not have, however, is the approval of Jackson's powerful estate, which had kept silent about the show put together by parents Joseph and Katherine Jackson, along with siblings Jackie, Tito, Marlon, LaToya and Rebbie. Brothers Jermaine and Randy have not been involved in the plans and have publicly objected to the event because it falls in the middle of the involuntary manslaughter trial of Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray. On Tuesday (August 16) a spokesperson for the estate — which has handled all of Jackson's affairs since his 2009 death — confirmed that estate lawyer Howard Weitzman sent a letter to concert organizers last week raising some pointed questions about the show. "I represent the Executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson. As the legal caretakers of Michael's intellectual property, we believe it is our duty to contact you directly regarding the growing number of questions that have been addressed to the Estate, as well as multiple concerns that have emerged in recent days," reads the letter. After reminding organizers that the estate is the only entity that can sign off on the use of Jackson's image or his intellectual property — the concert's website is careful not to feature any images of the singer or samples of his music — the letter said the estate was "especially disappointed" by the announcement on Monday that greasepaint rockers Kiss have been added to the bill. Specifically, the beef was that outspoken Kiss bassist Gene Simmons has made a number of disparaging comments about Jackson in the past. "It was extraordinarily embarrassing when no sooner had you announced this 'news' that [Simmons] would participate in your concert that TMZ posted an item noting that Mr. Simmons called Michael Jackson ... a child molester, notwithstanding the fact that Michael was acquitted by a jury," read the letter. Jackson fansite MJ4Justice was flooded with negative comments about the addition of Kiss, announced on Monday by Katherine Jackson on CNN, and has called for a boycott of the show. The concert's Facebook page has also been inundated with concerns over the booking of Kiss. And the complaints worked. On Tuesday, the concert's promoter, Global Live Events, canceled Kiss' "invitation" to appear in the show. "We have listened to Michael's fans and are grateful to have been alerted to these unfortunate statements by Gene Simmons," CEO Chris Hunt said in a statement. "Under the circumstances we fully agree that even though Kiss is a band Michael admired we have no choice but to rescind our invitation to them to appear in our tribute concert. We offer our sincerest apologies to Mrs. Jackson and the family for this oversight — our primary concern must be to do justice to Michael's memory, and to put on a tribute that the family and the fans will find suitable and fit for a King, our King of Pop." The estate also expressed concerns about the promotion of the concert as a charity event, noting that it is using Jackson's "good name" to promote contributions, when the charitable element of the show is voluntary. "It appears from your interviews and from your website that none of the (approximately $90-$390) per person ticket price is committed to charitable causes," the letter states. The estate asked for clarity on to whom the charitable contributions are going , as well as an explanation of the small type clause that says that refunds will not be offered if "50% or more of the number of contracted artists attend and perform." A spokesperson for the concert had not returned requests for comment about the donations at press time. Tickets are being distributed in lottery fashion, with fans asked to register for the chance to buy them in order to, "avoid the usual frantic rush and confusion when tickets for big events go on sale," according to the concert's website. "Michael Jackson always made sure his fans were treated to concert experiences so spectacular that they would remember the evening for the rest of their lives," lawyer Weitzman concluded. "He always treated his fans with the utmost respect. In light of the questions raised above and the confusion surrounding this 'event,' we are extremely concerned about Michael's legacy, his fans and the public-at-large." The letter asks promoter Global Live to address those concerns and those of the singer's fans as soon as possible.

Back in July, on the set of the "Moves Like Jagger" video, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine made a compelling argument for the song to be crowned the Song of Summer, stating, rather matter-of-factly, "There's not even any other songs being released this summer."

Turns out he was wrong. Not only were there other songs released during summer 2011 (we checked), but, as it turns out, "Jagger" may end up being the Song of Fall too. For the fourth week, the song — which also features Christina Aguilera — sits atop the Billboard Hot 100, besting the likes of Adele, Lady Gaga and Eminem. And it shows no signs of vacating the #1 spot anytime soon. Maroon 5 even released a rap remix with up-and-coming MC Mac Miller online earlier today. And while the success of "Jagger" is certainly impressive, it's equally amazing to learn that it's the first chart-topper for Aguilera in 10 years (her last being 2001's "Lady Marmalade"). So understandably, Aguilera is thrilled. Then again, as she told MTV News in a statement Thursday (September 29), she knew "Jagger" was destined for greatness from the moment it was first played for her. "The first time I heard the song, I loved it," she said. "The song has elements from the '60s and '70s, yet is so current and unique." Aguilera shows up in the Jonas Åkerlund-directed "Jagger" video, and she'll return to judging duties on the second season of "The Voice" too. Buoyed by the success of her team-up with Maroon 5, she's already at work on a new album — the follow-up to 2010's Bionic — reportedly due next summer. Are you a fan of "Moves Like Jagger"? Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Mary J. Blige and Maroon 5 have been added to the ever-expanding list of performers for the 2011 American Music Awards, joining a roster of talent that already includes Katy Perry and Pitbull. While most of this year's performances are being kept under wraps, a spokesperson for Dick Clark Productions announced Monday (October 24) that Aguilera and Maroon 5 will team up on their current smash "Moves Like Jagger" at this year's AMAs, which will air live on ABC on November 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Earlier this month, in a nomination special hosted by Pitbull and Nicki Minaj, it was revealed that Perry would head into the show as one of the night's most-nominated acts (along with fellow females Adele, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift), up for Artist of the Year, Pop or Rock Music: Favorite Female Artist and Adult Contemporary Music: Favorite Artist. It's somewhat fitting, given not only the rather huge year she's had, but that she also delivered a full-throttle version of her hit "Firework" at last year's AMAs. For the fifth year, American Music Award winners will be determined by online voting. Fans can support their favorites in all categories by heading over to AMAVote.com. The 2011 American Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 20, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.

Family, friends and fans gathered to remember Etta James at a memorial service on Saturday at City of Refuge Church in Gardena, California. The legendary singer was eulogized by the Rev. Al Sharpton, and her most beloved songs were brought to life with rousing performances by Christina Aguilera and Stevie Wonder.

Sharpton opened the service by reading a statement from President Barack Obama, whose first inaugural-ball dance with First Lady Michelle Obama was famously accompanied by a rendition of James' classic "At Last" performed by Beyoncé. "Etta will be remembered for her legendary voice and her contributions to our nation's musical heritage," Obama's statement read. James died on January 20 after a long battle with leukemia and other health problems, including kidney failure and dementia. She was 73. Sharpton's eulogy of James recounted a difficult life of poverty and pain that was brought out in songs that influenced contemporary singers from Aguilera and Adele to Florence Welch and Amy Winehouse, who like James battled drug addiction but unlike her idol was never able to overcome it. James was also a favorite of Beyoncé, who portrayed the singer in the 2008 film "Cadillac Records." "Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time. I am so fortunate to have met such a queen," Beyoncé said in a statement following James' passing. "Her musical contributions will last a lifetime." "Out of all the singers that I've ever heard, she was the one that cut right to my soul and spoke to me," Aguilera said before her performance of "At Last" at the service. Wonder performed three songs, including "Shelter in the Rain," an a cappella version of "The Lord's Prayer" and a harmonica solo. Sharpton emphasized how the singer's music bolstered the civil rights movement. "Etta James helped break down the culture curtain of America before the Civil Rights Act of 1964," Sharpton said. "She was able to get us on the same rhythms and humming the same ballads and understanding each other's melodies way before we could even use the same hotels." James is survived by her husband of 42 years, Artis Mills, and two sons, Donto and Sametto James. "You beat 'em, Etta," Sharpton concluded. "At last, you can find peace now. At last, you can get the gratitude of the savior now. Etta, you made it, you're going home. At last. At last. At last."

'The Voice' Returns For Second Season With Big Post-Super Bowl Show

"The Voice" returned to NBC for its second season immediately following Super Bowl XLVI and got right to business, kicking off the first round of blind auditions with coaches Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton each picking up one team member and Christina Aguilera scoring two.

Seven hopefuls stepped in front of the judges' revolving chairs, each hoping at least one would turn and ask them to be on their team. Two contestants got all four judges' approval, but one, 24-year-old Daniel Rosa from Riverside, California, didn't get a single judge to turn their chair and was sent packing. The Players: RaeLynn
A teenager raised on a Texas farm, RaeLynn entered the competition: with one thing in mind: to win over judge Blake Shelton, who is married to country singer Miranda Lambert, a big hero of RaeLynn's. She decided to sing Lambert's "Hell on Heels" despite being warned that last season Shelton didn't respond well when a contestant auditioned with one of his wife's songs. But confident in her choice, she did it anyway and wowed Shelton and Levine. Ultimately, she chose to stick with her roots and keep things country. Team Blake Jesse Campbell
One of many inspiring stories told during the show, we were introduced to 42-year-old homeless father Jesse Campbell and his family. He'd barely uttered a few notes before Aguilera, Green and Levine swiveled around (Shelton followed soon after). "You followed through above and beyond my expectations," she told Campbell, promising to fight for him along the hard road to the "Voice" finals. Trusting that Aguilera knows a thing or two about how to get the most out of strong vocalists, Jesse picked the "Not Myself Tonight" singer. Team Xtina Juliet Simms
Simms has been living the rock-and-roll life since she was a teen and is now, at 25, looking to take that next step. Simms tackled a big song too — "Oh! Darling" by the Beatles — but brought a rough, throaty edge and rocker swagger to the track that immediately attracted Levine, Cee Lo and, eventually, Aguilera. "You brought the house down," Christina said to Simms. Competing over the singer's affections even devolved into a bit of mudslinging between Aguilera and Levine, who bickered back and forth over who could better serve Simms in the contest. Another of the night's tear-jerker back stories came from Mann, a talented classical musician working in Nashville whose mother is fighting pancreatic cancer. The 29-year-old Wichita, Kansas, native was the second contestant of the competition to bowl over the judges with a big, classic voice. "Now that's a voice," Xtina proclaimed. "I love it!" Her enthusiasm led him to pick the "Beautiful" Grammy winner, and in the first night of competition, she nailed down the two best voices in the game so far. Team Xtina Tony Lucca
Hey, that guy looks familiar! Lucca was at one time a Mouseketeer alongside Christina, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears on "The Mickey Mouse Club." But it was more important here that he tore the roof off the joint with a rocking rendition of "Trouble" that earned a swivel of approval from every judge on the panel. All pleaded with him to join their team, but Aguilera seemed oblivious to the fact that she knew him as a child (a lot has happened since then, we'll give her that). He went with Shelton, probably hoping a little of the country-rock cool that's kept him at the top of the charts for the last few years rubs off. Team Adam After he left the stage, Aguilera realized who Lucca was and ran backstage to greet him, his wife and young daughter. She also revealed, "Britney had the biggest crush on you!" The blind auditions continued on Monday night's (February 6) two-hour episode of "The Voice," with each judge picking up two more contestants to fill out the 12-person teams they'll take to the battle phase later in the season. The episode opened with a flashy medley of Prince hits "1999," "Little Red Corvette" and "Kiss" performed by judges Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, before the crew got right to business with the auditions.

Aguilera picked up two acts, including the evening's first performers: platonic duo the Line. The pair's rendition of Tom Petty's "American Girl" got all four judges' attention, but despite much protest from Shelton, they picked Aguilera. Shelton later told the camera he thought they were "fooled by flash and boobs." She also scored an interesting choice in chanteuse Lindsay Pavao, who got Shelton and Cee Lo to swivel their chairs too. In one of the more unique performances of the night, Pavao transformed a Trey Songz tune into a ballad that Green compared to Fiona Apple. It was that uniqueness that won Christina over, and Pavao chose to join the "Beautiful" singer's team. Team Adam
After being denied by two different singers, the Maroon 5 frontman picked up his first team member of the night in 50-year-old Kim Yarbrough — who revealed during an interview segment that one of her many past odd jobs was working security for the Dave Matthews Band. Her soulful rendition of Rufus and Chaka Khan's "Tell Me Something Good" had all the judges dancing in their seats, but Adam won her over after asking for her name. When she said "Kim," he corrected, "No, your name is Chaka Khan, baby." Which is probably what any aspiring diva wants to hear after an audition. Levine also added the night's final contestant, 23-year-old Angel Taylor, to his team. The Los Angeles native grew up in an abusive household and turned to music to get through the tough times. Her performance of Adele's "Someone Like You" packed an emotional punch. Team Cee Lo
The night's two most compelling stories came from Jamar Rogers and Angie Johnson, both of whom opted for team Cee Lo. Rogers is a 29-year-old former drug addict from New York who was also featured on "American Idol" during season eight alongside his best friend and eventual finalist Danny Gokey. During his addiction, he contracted HIV. Now that he is clean and sober, Rogers volunteers for food-delivery services for the disabled in the Bronx. He also idolizes Cee Lo, so it's good that the "Forget You" Grammy winner turned his chair around for Rogers' performance of the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army." Cee Lo also picked up Staff Sergeant Angie Johnson, who was discovered and pushed to audition for "The Voice" after her fellow soldiers uploaded a video to YouTube of Johnson singing Adele on a military base while deployed in the Middle East. The video eventually tallied over a million views, which gave Johnson the confidence to hit the stage with a gutsy rendition of Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker." "I love a girl with guts and confidence," Cee Lo told the singer. Team Blake
Blake's first choice of the night fit firmly in his country wheelhouse: North Dakota native Gwen Sebastian, a musician who agreed with her drummer husband to hold off on having kids so she could take a go at being a performer. After her performance of "Stay," Shelton remarked, "You are a great country vocalist ... and I'm a country guy. I'm your man." A more surprising choice for the country superstar came late in the show, when he promised he'd do everything he could for Jermaine Paul, a backup singer who has toured the world with Alicia Keys. Keys even sent Paul a video message wishing him good luck. He made a surprising song choice in Avril Lavigne's "Complicated," which also earned props from Cee Lo, who told Paul he could "hear the swag" in his voice. And even though it looked like Paul was favoring Cee Lo, he opted to move out of his R&B comfort zone and into Shelton's country/rock genre. Four singers got the ax during the show when no judges swiveled around to offer a spot on their team. The judges went back and forth over country crooner Neil Middleton and pop singer Dez Durmon and ultimately regretted their decisions to pass on the singers. Durmon in particular had the judges all worked up, and when they turned around to see a handsome Yale football player standing in front of them, they practically slapped themselves across the head. "And it's a good-looking guy," Shelton sighed. Such is the point of "The Voice," though. Durmon would have been a sure thing if the judges had gotten a look at him beforehand, but it's all about the pipes — at least for now — on NBC's reality hit, which kicked off its season to some pretty great post-Super Bowl ratings. We are only two episodes into the second season of "The Voice," and already there is some news about the hit NBC show's third season.

According to TheWrap, Christina Aguilera has signed a contract to continue her stint on the judging panel for a third season of the singing competition. Aguilera is the first of the four judges to ink her deal, a payday for which is supposedly in the $10 million realm. TheWrap also reports that the third season could premiere in the fall rather than waiting until 2013; this would potentially put "The Voice" in direct competition with Fox's "X Factor." When MTV News reached out for comment from NBC, a show insider said no decision has been made about season three. It is expected that Aguilera's fellow judges Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will all renew their contracts in the coming weeks and that the third season will tape from September through December of this year. "The Voice" has proven to be a major hit for NBC. The season-two premiere following the Super Bowl on Sunday earned NBC's best ratings for an entertainment show in six years. Monday's episode earned the network's best numbers for that particular timeslot in nearly eight years, save for broadcasts of the Olympics.

When MTV News caught up with the show's new social media correspondent Christina Milian recently, the singer/actress gushed about the lovefest on set. "It's been fabulous. I've had fun working with the cast already," she said. "Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Cee Lo, Carson Daly — it's an awesome super team they have, and from day one, they treated me like family. "This show is about music, it's about talent, and it's about this passion and this dream of becoming a star," Milian added. "Still to this day, every day that I wake up, I have that same dream, so to be involved with the show, [it's amazing] to watch what they incorporate and how the coaches act as advisers and mentors to the artists and really truthfully help them and push them and want them to be the best so they can win."
